Humans of New York

Humans of New York

Everyone needs to look at this website. Absolutely everyone. I’m posting the full URL so there’s no confusion:

Why, you ask? Because if you’re anything like myself and are energized by inspirational people, Humans of New York can be your daily fix. There isn’t a single day that I don’t stumble upon at least one post on their Tumblr and Facebook websites that I don’t fall in love with.

The website creator and photographer, Brandon began Humans of New York in 2010 in an effort to create a “photographic census” of New York City. The quotes and short stories that accompany the photos are what truly make this brilliant project one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever came across.  Each person is so unique. With just a single quote from them, I’m left wondering where they’re from and how they got to New York and whether they have kids and what drives them and who was their first love and what they want to do before they die.

I love stories. I love people’s stories. I love the way each and everyone of us has a story. Humans of New York, for me, captures the first sentence of these people’s incredible novels just waiting to be written.

Like this guy right here? He said,

“Don’t look to other people for validation. Your birth was your validation.”

Seriously. I want to shout that statement from the rooftops.

Humans of New York is getting me through my finals with daily doses of inspiration. Check it out and see what it can do for you. Be sure to “like” their Facebook page, too. It’s refreshing to come across these updates on your news feed among all the other…stuff.
